HISTORY
In 1985, a 7.7 degree earthquake hit seven Chilean regions, leaving hundreds of deaths, and whole towns in ruins.
In the presence of such drama, a group of women got organized in order to provide help.Their first objective was to build as soon as possible, a school in Santo Domingo, a sea side town particularly affected by the earthquake.
With this first work, the People Help People Charity Corporation was created.
The proceeding work was oriented towards other poor zones of the country, but with a different reality: rural zones of the south. Here, a lot of children live isolated, and many times never finish their school education. Job opportunities are very restricted, which is why many are obliged to inmigrate to Santiago. Conscious of this problem, the Corporation decided to build schools with an adecute infrastructure, which include for example, dormitories.
Since 1988, the Corporation has built three complete educational centers in rural zones of the X Region : Panguipulli, Pilmaiquen and Pullinque. In these institutions, children graduate with a practical occupation like agriculture or forest technician , plumber, electrician, or in gastronomy. This tool will allow them to pursue a carrer pertaining these areas, or inmediatly begin to work.
Since 1990, PHP has expanded its action field, building health centers and completing them with first degree equipment.
